Lambert Shell takes control of the KCC Men's Basketball program after an illustrious career as a player and as a coach. Lambert was a 4-year player at University of Bridgeport from 1988-1992. During that time, he had one of the best 4-year careers in NCAA history leading his team to a conference championship his first year and then NCAA Championship Tournament appearances in each of his remaining 3 years. In his sophomore year at UB, Lambert's team made a run all the way to the Elite 8 in the national tournament. As team captain during his junior and senior years, Lambert led his team to the NCAA Division II championship game 2 years in a row.
During his 4-year career at UB, Lambert scored an unbelievable 3,001 points averaging over 22 points per game for his entire 4-year playing career at UB. During the time he scored that massive amount of points, Lambert was never selfish with the ball dishing out 332 assists. Lambert frequently hit his friend and UB's second scoring option during their historic 4-year run, Pat Morris for open looks. Pat amassed 1,800 of his own points during the same 4 years when Lambert dropped 3,000. Combined, they scored almost 5,000 points in 4 years.
Following his playing career at UB, Lambert played professionally from 1992-2005 overseas and in many different cities in the USA. Lambert Shell's feats on the court earned him an induction to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
During his playing days at UB, Lambert successfully attained a bachelor's degree of Human Services in 1992. While playing professionally, Lambert realized that he would need a career to fall back on when his playing days were behind him. He reentered UB and earned a Master's Degree in Education Science in 2001. Later, he would earn a second Master's Degree (Library Science) in 2008 from LIU Post and a Doctorate of Humane Letters from UB in 2009.
