Queensborough CC defeated Kingsbough CC in Battle of the Boroughs

The Wave entered last night's contest against Queensborough Community College encouraged by their strong play against Division 1 Globe Institute of Technology. The team though came out without much passion and found itself trailing QCC early by a score of 22-8. The strong play off the bench by freshman guard Cashawn Mcfaden and solid play of freshman guard Che Gonzales sparked the Kingsborough's offense, and helped the Wave cut the QCC lead to 43-33 at the half.

The start of the second half of play saw KCC freshman forward Arseniy Shulman come out on fire leading a great comeback tying the game at 46 early in the second half. The remainder of the half would be one of runs by both teams. QCC ran off 10 straight points only to have the Wave fight back to tie the score and go ahead late in the game 73-72 on two free throws by Cashawn Mcfaden. QCC rebounded a miss by the Wave and raced up court converting a crucial lay-up plus a foul to take a two point lead, 75-73. The game came down to free throw shooting with QCC winning on its home court 81-78. The Wave was led by 19 points from Cashawn Mcfadden, 12 points and 8 rebounds from Arseniy Shulman and 10 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists by Che Gonzales.
