Box Score Brooklyn, NY - The 2024-25 Kingsborough Wave Men's Basketball season opener took place Tuesday night against the #11 ranked Hostos Caimans.

Early in the first half, the Wave managed to keep pace with the Caimans, never allowing the lead to exceed seven points. Christopher Jace had a strong first half, skillfully using a eurostep to get by two defenders. Kevar Samuels also made an impact, crashing the offensive glass for putbacks and, on defense, limiting Hostos' second-chance points. Unfortunately
for the Wave, some costly turnovers and defensive lapses allowed Hostos to pull ahead, and Kingsborough went into halftime trailing 55-31.

In the second half, the Wave saw promising performances from Philip Khobot and James Elder, who helped chip away at Hostos' lead with some nice putbacks and pullup jumpers.
With about five minutes left, the Caimans were up by 16, but the Wave continued to battle, reducing the gap to 12 points with just over two minutes remaining. Jace and Samuels were
clear focal points for the Caimans' defense, facing double and triple teams as they entered the paint, but they still managed to contribute effectively.

Despite their efforts, the Wave's comeback attempt fell short, as they fought back to make it a 10-point game but ultimately fell to the Hostos Caimans, 90-80.

The Wave will be back at home this Saturday, November 9th, as they'll host Middlesex County.
