FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 8, 2024) – Following a thrilling finish at the 2024 Community College Baseball Championship Game, the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) is excited to reveal its all-star awards and team, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.
 
Kingsborough claimed three of the four major awards. Andrew Ardito was voted CUNYAC Player of the Year, while teammate Filippo Vendetti was selected as the league's Rookie of the Year. In addition, Wave head coach Brian Dowd was tabbed Coach of the Year. Queensborough's James Cummins was selected CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year.
 
Player of the Year: Andrew Ardito, Kingsborough
Andrew Ardito has been a force offensively in the Wave lineup this season. The sophomore ranks No. 14 nationally in batting average (.463), No. 2 in on-base percentage (.631), third in slugging percentage (.825), and his 75 hits rank No. 12. Most importantly, he led Kingsborough to a third straight CUNYAC title.
 
Rookie of the Year: Filippo Venditti, Kingsborough
A three-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honoree, Filippo Vendetti paces Kingsborough in hits (47) and is tied for a team-high 46 RBI. The rookie has 13 multi-hit outings this season.
 
Pitcher of the Year: James Cummins, Queensborough
James Cummins went 5-4 on the mound this season with victories over Suffolk, Kingsborough, BMCC, Bronx and Monroe-Bronx. Earlier in the season, he tossed Queensborough's first no-hitter since 2018.
 
Coach of the Year: Brian Dowd
In his fifth season as head coach, Brian Dowd led Kingsborough to an 11-1 record in conference play, a third consecutive regular season title and a third straight conference championship.
