Men's Basketball: Kingsborough Wave lose in heartbreaking fashion to Hostos in final seconds to fall to .500

Bronx, NY - The Kingsborough Wave head to Hostos looking for a bounce back after losing the #3 ranked Dutchess Falcons.

The Wave found offensive success inside the paint early. Tysean Boney scored inside and that was followed up with a three from Saquon Roberts. Torian Douglas would knock down a few threes of his own, while Chris Jace would establish his presence in the paint as he would score a physical basket inside. Boney would help a miss by Jace later in the quarter by crashing the boards and getting the putback. Abdoul Toure got hot as he was fouled while attacking the rim and still scored and converted the and-one opportunity at the line and followed that up with back- to-back threes to cap off a strong first half showing for the Wave as they would head into half up,44-33.

Early in the second half, Hostos looked to gain momentum, but the Wave kept pace early. Douglas and Roberts drilled back-to-back threes, followed by Jace converting a strong and-one opportunity. The Caiman would go on a run and the Wave couldn't find an answer until Malik Lewis added on on another and-one opportunity in which he converted. Now a two-point game and forcing a stop on the other end, the Caiman foul Chris Jace with under 10-seconds remaining in the game. Jace misses on the first one and converts on the second attempt. The Caiman would now need a last second three to tie the game with no timeouts remaining The Caiman bring the ball up court and shoot the three and it's no good, but the ball remains loose and finds its way into the hands of a Caiman and he shoots the three with three seconds remaining and knocks it down and was fouled in the process and is going to get the chance to the lead in the final seconds by converting a four point play, in which he does. The Wave got a good look by Oliver Reyes Jr., but it was no good as the Wave would go on to lose an
absolute gut wrencher by a final score of, 76-77.

The Wave lose their second consecutive game in heartbreaking fashion as a game that had multiple chances to be put away, slipped away. The Wave have a chance to redeem themselves
next timeout vs the Nassau Lions.
