Wave Falls Short to Tigers

The Wave entered Friday's game against Queensborough in a do or die situation. Win and still be alive in the CUNY championship hunt- Lose and play the rest of the season for pride. Jimmy Daley had the ball for the big game in Manhattan Beach. Both teams exchanged blows back and forth matching each other until the 5th, when the Wave took a 3 run lead on RBI's from Jimmy Daley, Christopher Armenti, and Joseph Capparelli

The lead would not last long with Queensborough answering back in the top of the 6th. The top of the lineup led off the inning and the first four batters would reach base and score on Daley, putting Kingsborough down one run. Queensborough would not let go of the lead and would win the game by a score of 10-8.

Saturday would bring the final doubleheader of the season. The first game would have Michael Cassavella toe the slab for the second time in this series on just 3 days rest. Cassavella would continue his fine freshman season pitching a complete game and leading his team to victory. The offense was led by Justin Baierlein and Jimmy Daley, each having 3 runs scored and combining for 6 hits (Daley had 4). The Wave would take the game convincingly 14-4.

The final game of the series would bring southpaw Juan Pilarte to the mound. Kingsborough would take a commanding 11-6 lead in the top of the 6th. They would score 5 in the 3rd started by freshman Mark Marrero. The next 4 batters would also reach and score in the inning. The 11-6 lead would not be enough with The Wave relinquishing that lead in the bottom of the 6th, giving up a 9 spot. The game would end on a sour note with a score of 15-11. The Wave will play out the final game of their season on Wednesday May 1st in Suffolk, Long Island playing a makeup game against Suffolk Community College from earlier in the season.
