Baseball : Wave Knocks BMCC in Home DoubleHeader

After Tuesday's win and Fridays rainout against BMCC The Wave had to finish up their season series with the Panthers. They played a doubleheader on Saturday and a single nine inning game on Sunday.
 
     Saturday started off very well with a decisive win in five innings. Sophomore pitcher Michael Cassavella pitched a shutout, striking out 10 Panthers and giving up just 2 hits. 
     Offensively KCC was led by Bryan Doyle who had 3 runs scored. Louis Liberta continued his hot hitting going 2-3 with 3 RBI'S and 3 runs scored. Dominic Morano went 2-3 with a homerun and Jonathan Biachino had 2 hits and 3 runs scored. The final score was 12-0 in a mercy rule game.
 
     The second game of the double header saw Freshman Gary Andersen get his first start of the year on the hill. Andersen went the distance striking out 7 in a solid performance. 
     The Wave offense was alive again in the second game of the double header.  The big story offensively was Jonathan Bianchino going 4-5 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Joseph Burgund hit a round tripper into the right field parking lot that traveled an estimated 380 feet. Joseph Capparelli had 2 hits with an RBI and Bryan Doyle had 2 hits, a triple, 2 runs scored, an RBI, as well as another stolen base. Eyosyas Tadesse also had 2 hits and adding 2 RBI's. The final score was 14-6 in favor of The Wave.
 
     Sunday's single game had Freshman Southpaw Joseph Burgund toe the slab. Burgund threw a fantastic game going 8 innings giving up just 3 runs and striking out 10, including the side in the 6th.
 
     Bryan Doyle had 2 hits, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. Eyosyas Tadesse had a hit and 2 runs scored and Frank Vazquez hit a solo home run in the 7th. Louis Liberta added another 3 hits in this game. Joseph Liotta came in the 9th to finish up the game on the mound and nail it home with a final score of 7-3. The Wave will be back in action this week playing 7 games in total against Nassau and Queensborough combined. This is a big week coming up for the boys for them to show what they are made of.
