Box Score 2 Brooklyn, NY – KCC men's and women's basketball teams split the season opener Tuesday night against rivals BMCC as part of a double header. The ladies lost a close fought game against lady panthers 48 – 44 in overtime, after leading for the majority of the game.
The lady wave were led by #24 Denise Barnes who had 11pts 8 rebs, #51 Meka Canovic added 7pts before fouling out.
The Men's defeated last years CUNYAC champions in the second game of the double header by a score of 69 - 66. KCC Freshman guard # 22 Daniel Finkelstein finished with 16pts 7rebs and 4 assists, center #40 Vakas Iqbal another freshman had a impressive game while battling through a series of legs cramps and finished with 15pts 8rebs.
It was a very intense game in the 2nd half as BMCC battled back from as much as 15 pts down, playing pressure defense throughout the second half and were able to cut into the KCC lead by forcing turnovers and converting their fast break opporturnities. BMCC cut the lead down to two pts with two minutes left but came up short on the last possession as KCC played strong and discipline defense, forcing a miss shot which would of tied the game, sealing the win for KCC.
Next game for both teams would be on the road at LaGuardia CC on 11/12/15, the first tip would be at 6PM.
