Brooklyn, NY - The Kingsborough Wave kick o: the second half of the season as they host the Queensborough Tigers.
The Wave set the tone early, with
Torian Douglas knocking down a three-pointer to open the scoring. Contributions came from everywhere in the first half as
Kevar Samuels,
Chris Jace would get points in the paint meanwhile Saquon Roberts, and
Oliver Reyes Jr. knocked down some shots as well. Overall, it was a solid first half from the Wave as they would head into the half trailing the Tigers by a score of, 38-32.
In the second half, the Wave came out determined to shift the momentum. Douglas hit another three to open the scoring and added two more on a deep jumper, igniting a run for the Wave. Saquon Roberts, continued to impress in his season debut adding a tip-in,followed up by a slick post-hook in the paint by
Kevar Samuels helped close the gap.
Tysean Boney created momentum off scoring back-to-back buckets in the paint, and
Abdoul Toure followed suit o: a steal and a coast-to-coast score. Following a late foul by the Wave in a tie game, a QCC Tiger knocked down one of two of his free throws making it a 76-75 game with under 30-seconds remaining in the game. The Wave with a chance to take the lead, have good ball movement searching for a good look,
Abdoul Toure fakes the jumper and gets it inside to
Torian Douglas who scores inside the paint with 6-seconds
remaining in the game. The Wave were able to hold o: the Tigers last second shot attempt and would hold on to a slim 1-point 77-76 victory.
The Wave take an absolute thriller over the Tigers and win for the first time in 2025, and will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday when they travel to BMCC to take on the Panthers.
