The Kingsborough Wave Men's Soccer team opened up their season last Thursday at home on the KCC turf. In their much-anticipated home opener, the Wave had to settle for a tie against the LaGuardia Redhawks.
LaGuardia came out strong, catching the Wave off guard and jumped out to a 1-0 lead, following a goal by LaGuardia's own Aliou N'Diaye. However, the Wave's defense was resilient, allowing only one goal the whole match. Goalkeeper,
Mario Brown, was a wall in the net in 90 minutes of play in his collegiate debut.
After several frustratingly close calls, the Wave were able to successfully answer the Redhawks in the 73rd minute with freshman Stanley Milhomme's goal from the top right of the box. Milhomme was assisted by freshman
Allan Pelcastre.
Both teams traded quality scoring chances in the last 15 minutes of play, but neither team was able to put the ball in the back of the net.
