Suffolk, NY - The Wave set the tone early as they've done frequently over the course of their winning streak, with Saquon Roberts opening the scoring and displaying impressive playmaking
throughout. Roberts delivered slick passes, including a behind-the-back feed to
Chris Jace, who dominated inside with physical finishes and an and-one opportunity.
Torian Douglas heated up from deep, hitting three first-half triples, including a corner three to tie the game and another to extend the lead.
Malik Lewis added firepower oK the bench
with back-to-back threes, while
Oliver Reyes Jr. and
Angel Laureano energized the team with strong finishes inside, including a steal-and-score sequence by Laureano, as the Wave
would take a 14-point 58-45 lead over the Sharks headed into the half.
The Wave maintained the momentum early in the second. Douglas opened the scoring with a long two from the key and continued setting up teammates for key buckets. Saquon
Roberts kept the offense flowing with highlight-reel assists.
Despite the Sharks cutting a once 20-point lead to single digits, the Wave responded with contributions from
Abdoul Toure, who hit crucial threes as well as ramping up the defensive
pressure to re-capture a comfortable lead.
Chris Jace and
Oliver Reyes Jr. were unstoppable inside as they were consistently attacking the rim much thanks to their
teammates finding them in the open lanes.
Malik Lewis and Saquon Roberts sealed the game with scores as the Wave would take another convincing win over the Sharks, 104-78.
The Wave have now won 4-straight games and are winners in 9 of their last 13 and set season high scoring totals in back-to-back games, undoubtedly playing their best basketball of the season. They'll look to keep the good times rolling as they return home to host the Bronx Broncos on Thursday night in a woman-men doubleheader beginning at
6pm.
