KCC Wave Women's Volleyball team tops Hostos Caiman

Wave defeated the Caiman in Home Opener

Box Score The Kingsborough Community College's Women's Volleyball team defeated Hostos Community College in 3 sets, in their first home opener game. The Wave gave their home fans something to cheer about after dominating their CUNYAC rival for mostly the entire match (25-11), (25-15), (25-12). First year player Joycelyn Rolland had strong performance at the defensive end with 4 blocks to help the Wave shut down the opponent's attacks. The Outside Hitter also gave a solid offensive performance with 15 Kills in 22 attempts while committing just 1 error.

Vlasta Saforova also had an overall well rounded performance for the KCC Wave. The Azerbaijan native played in all 3 sets and was an important contributor for the team with 11 digs and 10 kills including the match winning point that helped Wave capped their 5th Win in a row. Second year player and team captain Allison Ahmed and First year player Lucia Garcia also had good performances. Garcia had 6 assists and 23 digs, while Ahmed dished 20 assists to lead the Wave. Despite having an off-night hitting the ball, Kerley Pierre finished the game with 7 kills.

With this win, the KCC Wave Women's Volleyball team put their overall record to 6-3 in the season, 3-1 in the CUNY conference. In their next challenge, Kingsborough CC will travel to BMCC on Saturday October 6 to play respectively Westchester CC and Orange CC.
