Brooklyn, NY - The Kingsborough Lady Wave hosted the LaGuardia Lady Red Hawks Thursday night looking for their 7th consecutive win and for a school record best start to a season by winning for a 9th time in 10 games.
In the 1st quarter,
Arta Gjeloshi opened the game with a putback.
Endya Greene was putting on an offensive clinic in the first, she was hitting on step-back jumpers, hesitations to get past Red Hawk defenders, and steal-to-score plays.
Zakieya Williams and
Kayla Wilson also contributed offensively as well as defensively by forcing stops leading to fastbreaks.
In the 2nd,
Endya Greene once again got ok to a fast start. She showcased dominance throughout the whole quarter, she recorded steals, assists, scoring all around, and even converting and-ones.
Zakieya Williams also continued her strong efforts with a physical finish at the rim.
Tionna Davis also had a nice effort by saving the ball from going out of bounds as she landed into the Wave bench, as Williams would put it in for two. The Wave would outscore the Red Hawks 29-7 in the second quarter and would head into half with a 53-22 lead.
The 3rd quarter got oK to a fast start as
Zakieya Williams and
Kayla Wilson managed to get the Wave on the board early. Greene had a slick feed in the paint to Wilson who finished the nice play. Williams once again being physical finishing a nasty putback followed by
Jayden Vega doing the same.
To open the 4th,
Endya Greene came out looking like Patrick Mahomes with a court-length pass to
Zakieya Williams, who got it to Tamia Flores for the finish.
Arta Gjeloshi capped off the night for the Wave with an and-one play as the Wave would defeat the Red Hawks, 97- 42.
The Kingsborough Lady Wave have extended their win streak to 7-games and have set a new school record best start to a season, with a 9-1 record.
This Saturday, we wrap up the homestand with a marquee matchup, as the #12 ranked Kingsborough Lady Wave host the #11 ranked Jefferson Lady Cannoneers at 1PM.
