Women's Basketball: Lady Wave defeat Northern Essex Lady Knights; win 13th consecutive; improve to 15-1

Box Score The Kingsborough Lady Wave returned to action Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to Massachusetts for a two-game road trip beginning with the Northern Essex Lady Knights in a match-up that would feature three of the top 5 leading scorers in NJCAA division 3 women's basketball.

Zakieya Williams would open the scoring with on a smooth putback fader. It was made apparent early-on that there would be no stopping Endya Greene as she scored a tough physical basket in the paint while being fouled, She would convert the three-point play. Greene followed this up with a nasty euro-step for another two points. After a Jayden Vega 3-pointer and a full-court length pass by Endya Greene to Tionna Davis for 2, The Wave would take a 21-13 into the 2nd quarter.

The Wave's momentum carried over to the 2nd early as Endya would begin the quarter with a steal that turned into easy fast break points. Zakieya Williams would follow that up by knocking down a three. Tionna Davis had a beautiful finger-roll finish between two Knight defenders for two. Davis who had a phenomenal quarter would cap it off on a steal that led to fastbreak points, and the Wave headed into half with a, 44-28 lead.

In the 3rd quarter it was once again Zakieya Williams setting the tone as she had a slick behind-the-back move for two. Endya Greene showed off her passing with a perfect dime to Kayla Wilson. The Wave were on top of things as Endya Greene, Tionna Davis and Kiana Rojas all had steals in the quarter that would turn into points in transition. The Lady Wave outscored the Lady Knights in the third, 24-5 and would take a 68-33 lead.

Kayla Wilson kicked off the 4th quarter with a bucket and Zakieya Williams followed that up with a coast-to-coast lay-up. Tionna Davis continued her fine game by completing an and-one opportunity which sealed another dominant Lady Wave victory as they would take a 84-43 win over the Lady Knights.

The Kingsborough Lady Wave have now won their 13th consecutive game to improve to 15-1 on the season. They'll be back in action Thursday evening as they conclude their first half against the Bunker Hill Lady Bulldogs.
