Kenneth “Ken” M Stevens, a former member of the KCC Wave men’s basketball team, will be remembered as one of the great point guards and scorers in KCC history.  A two-year team captain, Ken led his team in scoring, assists and steals in each of his two years.

In his first year with the team (’87-’88), Kenneth averaged 22 points, 6 assists and an astounding 6 steals per game.  At the end of his freshman year, Ken was named team MVP, team player of the year, freshman player of the year honorable mention and 1st team all-conference.  Ken would continue to build on his legacy in his second year as team leader averaging 18 points, 7 assists and 4 steals per game.  Once again, Kenneth was named team MVP, and 1st team all-conference but was also honored as 1st team all section player of the year and 1989 conference player of the year.  During his 2-year career, Kenneth amassed an impressive 1,180 points.

After finishing KCC, Kenneth went into the work force and made a successful career out of doing what he loved.  Twenty-four years ago, Kenneth founded what would become the largest summer basketball league in the USA, the Dyckman Basketball Tournament.  Today, Ken still oversees the Dykman Tournament as the commissioner of the league, and he is also in his 10th year as the head coach of the Early College High School basketball team.  Professionally,  Kenneth works at a residential treatment center for children.

We thank Ken for his dedication to the KCC Wave basketball team, commend him on his efforts to help children in their times of need, and applaud him on his successes as a player, coach and administrator of the game of basketball.  It is our honor to induct Kenneth M Stevens into the KCC Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of its inaugural class.
